DIL Gala 2007 "Moonlight in Marrakesh"
DIL Toronto - November 2nd, 2007

DIL Toronto's gala, 'Moonlight in Marrakesh' was held on November 2nd, 2007 at one of Toronto's most famous landmark dance halls. Nestled on the shores of Lake Ontario, the Palais Royale Ballroom, is unique to the downtown lakeshore for its natural beauty, elegance, alluring style and original architecture.

Amidst this serenity guests experienced a night of elegance, fine dining, fire breather performances, free tarot card readings, mesmerizing belly dancing and Live Moroccan music by the internationally acclaimed Arabesque Dance Company. The night ended with the very popular DJ Kamran spinning beats that whisked all the guests onto the dance floor.

The event was a major success, raising over CAD $50,000, and was attended by many dignitaries and prominent members of Toronto's community. DIL Canada's work was appreciated in speeches made by Hon. Mr. John Tory - Leader of the opposition, Dr. Sheila Embleton, Vice President York University, Dr. Hina Chaudhry, Cardiologist & Irving Assistant Professor of Medicine at Columbia University.

The evening also hosted a silent auction of Jimmy Engineer paintings which were generously donated by the famous Karachi artist himself for DIL's cause of spreading literacy amongst the underprivileged children of Pakistan, especially the girl-child.

Keeping up with tradition, yet again, the DIL Toronto Board presented their guests with an experience far out of the ordinary that they will never forget!
