Text Box: The 2008 DIL Ottawa fundraiser took place at the elegant theatre of the Museum of Civilization. Close to 300 people attended this delightful evening that showcased dances and music from the East and the West. The Thai Dance Troupe of Ottawa enchanted the audience with dances from various regions of Thailand. A medley of Irish and Indian dances were performed to the toe-tapping music of the band Delhi2Dublin. Their music was a hit with the audience.

The chief guests at the occasion were Hon. Musa Chohan, High Commissioner of Pakistan and Hon. Chris Bentley, Attorney General of Ontario, who flew to Ottawa to attend this event.
Saba (11 years old), a very promising young singer, and her brother Danyal (l5) captured the hearts of the audience with their songs. They launched their debut album at the Gala and generously donated all the money raised, approximately $1300, to DIL. Hon. Bentley was impressed with the dance performance of Nikita Kamble (8 years old) and mentioned her dedication to the cause of literacy. Nikita volunteered at our previous fundraiser too.
Approximately $23,000 was raised at this event.
