DIL Ottawa proudly held its 8th Annual Fundraising Gala on Saturday, October 3rd at the prestigious Hellenic Centre. Over 250 people attended this magical evening of music, dances and fine dining.

This year's theme constituted a tribute to Pakistan's Queen of Melody, Madame Noor Jehan. Renowned singer, Yasmin Rashid, mesmerized the audience with her renditions of songs from yesteryear. Yasmin was accompanied by musicians Abdul Zakir and Osman Zakir, Ottawa's very own father-son harmonium/tabla team
The event was a major success, raising (CAD) $26,300. A silent auction, sale of gift items and generous donations helped to substantiate this year's goal. All funds attained are targeted directly towards the education of students attending the five DIL Canada schools, situated in Orangi and Islamabad.

Honoured guests speaking in support of DIL Ottawa and its efforts included, political strategist and author Shuja Nawaz, High Commissioner of Pakistan, His Excellency Akber Zeb and journalist Ali Azhar Khan. .
