Frequently Asked Questions

1. Which DIL project will be supported by all the funds raised by DIL Canada?

All funds raised by DIL Canada will go only to DIL Canada schools. Currently, DIL Canada is supporting 7 schools in Orangi, Karachi.

2. What subjects are taught at DIL schools?

The standard government curriculum: English, Math, Urdu, Social Studies, Religion and Arts and Crafts. The curriculum is enhanced according to the specific needs of the particular area where the school is located.

3. How do you convince people to send their daughters to school?

Before a school is opened in a village the staff identifies the village elder that everyone respects. Once he is convinced of the importance of female education the job becomes much easier as he then helps our staff convince the community. On seeing the benefits of education, neighboring villages often voluntarily approach the NGO to open schools in their villages.

4. Can you open a school in my village?

Unfortunately, it is not economically feasible for us to open only one school. Each school requires constant monitoring and the teachers are trained on an ongoing basis.
To keep costs down DIL prefers to fund projects comprising at least 40 schools. However, if an individual is willing to fund an entire project of 40 schools, which usually costs between $45,000 to $50,000 per year, with an enrolment of 1600 to 2000 children, DIL can work almost anywhere in Pakistan.
