United States Senator Tom Harkin visited Pakistan in September 2005 and met with DIL students from Thallian, Nai Abadi and Shah Jeevan. Harkin spent more than an hour with the children and saw firsthand how DIL schools operate.

"I was impressed by the teachers and students of the DIL schools. It is heartening to see that DIL is stepping in to fill the lack of educationalopportunities in the most disadvantaged areas of Pakistan," he said.
